Our Student Leadership Development Programme is guided by the philosophy that every student can be a leader. Thus, leadership development opportunities are made available to the entire student body. Leadership competencies are developed through the Self Leadership Programme, Team Leadership Programme and the Organisational Leadership Programme.
Self Leadership Programme
All students are required to embark on the NYAA journey and achieve a Bronze award upon graduation. For student leaders, they are given opportunities to further achieve the Silver award.
Team Leadership Programme
1. Class Leadership
The class committee comprises of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Well-Being Representative, Values-In-Action Representative and Environment Representative. They undergo twice a year training and seek to build a positive classroom environment by fostering class responsibility and bonding through class or school projects. Their roles include assisting the form teacher and subject teachers in maintaining orderliness and discipline of the class.
2. CCA Leadership
CCA leaders are nominated and selected based on their leadership, performance and contributions in their respective CCA groups. Their roles include rallying and leading their peers to achieve CCA excellence as well as assisting the Teacher-in-charge of certain administrative duties. They undergo an annual Ngee Ann Polytechnic Youth Leaders Camp to be equipped with leadership, communication and project management skills to lead their respective CCA groups at various school events.
Prefects are nominated and selected based on exemplary conduct, good academic results and CCA attendance. They assist the School Discipline Committee by managing students and facilitate school procedures on a daily basis. In addition, the prefects actively support the Student Council in school events.
