 What is Education and Career Guidance (ECG)?

Education and Career Guidance (ECG) is about equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to make informed decisions at each key education stage for successful transition from school to further education or work, and hence to manage their career pathways and lifelong learning throughout their lives. Through ECG, social emotional competencies as well as qualities of proactivity, adaptability and resilience are developed to prepare students for the 21st Century.

What are the goals of ECG?

The goals of ECG are to:

• nurture students’ self-awareness, self-directedness and life skills for continuous learning and training; (Skills)
• enable students to explore viable education and career options through the provision of accurate and comprehensive information; (Knowledge)
• inculcate an appreciation for the value of all occupations and how they contribute to the well-functioning of society; (Mindsets) and
• equip students with skills and means to positively engage their parents and other career influencers.(Engaging the community)

How is ECG delivered in our school? ECG is rolled out through a multitude of platforms, as shown in the diagram below, in order to ensure good implementation of the total curriculum for ECG.

 

ECG Counselling Service

Have you ever wondered where your career interests lie, which subject combination choices to consider, or wish to find out more about your education and career pathways? You may have a chat with Mr Teng, our school’s ECG Counsellor. Our ECG counsellor supports students either as individual or in small groups (up to 4 pax). Please book an appointment with Mr Teng over email or phone call. Alternatively, you could walk in to do so or go through your form teachers. Please refer to Mr Teng’s availability and office location below:
